The NHL Playoffs delivered another thrilling night yesterday, with standout performances and pivotal victories. Here's a comprehensive recap of last night's action and a preview of tonight's matchups.
NHL Playoff Recap – April 23, 2025
Washington Capitals 3, Montreal Canadiens 1
The Capitals secured a 3–1 victory over the Canadiens, taking a commanding 2–0 series lead. Washington's offense capitalized on key opportunities, while their defense stifled Montreal's attempts to rally. The series now shifts to Montreal, where the Canadiens will look to rebound on home ice.
Dallas Stars 2, Colorado Avalanche 1 (OT)
In a tightly contested Game 3, the Stars edged the Avalanche 2–1 in overtime, taking a 2–1 series lead. Tyler Seguin netted the game-winner at 5:31 of the extra period, while Jamie Benn's late third-period goal forced OT. Gabriel Landeskog made his return for Colorado after a long 3 year injury absence including multiple knee surgeries, but the Avalanche couldn't capitalize at home in the captain's first game back.
Los Angeles Kings 6, Edmonton Oilers 2
The Kings dominated the Oilers with a 6–2 win, extending their series lead to 2–0. Adrian Kempe led the charge with two goals and two assists, while Anze Kopitar contributed a goal and three assists. Los Angeles's offense overwhelmed Edmonton, chasing goalie Stuart Skinner after a flurry of third-period goals. This was the second straight game the Kings were able to net 6, leaving Edmonton to wonder if they will be able to stifle their offence.
